Kishtwar police launched a campaign “War on Drugs” against drug menace | KNO

Keeping in view the increasing menace of drug and psychotropic substances in various areas of the Chenab valley , Kishtwar Police today launched a war against drugs by drawing out a district wide full-flagged campaign against drug abuse here today .The district wide campaign was started from the Boys Higher Secondary School Kishtwar and the programme was attended by hundreds of students of various classes.Police besides conducting various talks on the drug abuse by different speakers also distributed pamphlets among students and youth containing the details of effects and consequences of the drug abuse.The newly posted district Superintendent of Police Abrar Choudhary, KPS gave a detailed speech on how the cycle of drug consumption starts, where it leads to a person and what is its prognosis and subsequently end. He said that the drug abuse starts as a fun and ends in death or multiple lifelong disabilities to the person who enters into its vicious cycle. SSP briefed the students and faculty of the institute in detail about the medical and health effects, social and criminal effects of the drug abuse.Seeking support of the civil society to eradicate menace of drug abuse, SSP further said that cooperation of every section of the society is must to liberate our younger generation from the yoke of drug addiction. “We have to accept this reality that drugs are slowly tightening grip on the youth . It is high time to start a deciding war against this menace”, the SSP Kishtwar said and seek cooperation of younger to eradicate the menace . The students, youth, faculty and the police took a joint oath read over to the audience by the district Superintendent of Police, Abrar Chowdhary. The students and youth promised to the police that they will take the anti-drug message of police to every nook and corner of their areas.Those present on the occasion were Prahlad Bhagat, Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kishtwar, Kishore Kumar, Principal Girls Higher Secondary School , lecturers of the higher secondary school Kishtwar, SHO Police Station Kishtwar Inspector Sameer Jillani and other Police and civil officers.
